    Hi Everyone,

Since I've only read 44 of the 65 or so pages of the TZ owner's thread  , I am holding off posting there until I finish up. But I am interested in your thoughts on the following.

If I were to buy a TZ150 now, I would upgrade from 1 to 2 GB of RAM immediately. But I would plan to make due with the 4,200 RPM hard drive until SSD prices came down a bit. My question is: would it be possible later to swap out the TZ150's 4,200 RPM for a SSD and, if so, how difficult would that be? Are SSDs made in a form factor and with compatibility such that they could be swapped into a TZ150 down the road?

    Thank you for your feedback.

swapping 4200rpm to SSD is plug and play task. no more difficult than any other laptop. just make sure its in SATA 1.8" form factor with ZIF connector.

Well.... I have a tz90 with ssd and 2.5 my ssd is now toast, I am trying to send it back to samsung. in the mean time I was going to put a 1.8 4200 RPM zif drive I have sitting on my desk into my laptop... guess what?? It don't fit. The mounting hardware is different. I could just becuase I went from a ssd to a std hd... I am sure the other way around i will work out better.

SSD should be in PATA - all 1.8" drives are in PATA right now.
The ZIF connector should have been standardised already. Current generation 1.8" drives used in TZ are using this standardised connector.

As for mounting, if I'm not wrong there are SSDs out there that come in 1.8" HDD form-factor, so it is a 1-for-1 swap.

However, the SSD supplied to the OEMs like sony may not have the 1.8" formfactor. It most probably is a pcb with the flash chips on it. These SSDs are probably only for OEMs and not available in mass-market shops. There is also thus no need for the metal case in HDD formfactor.

So to go from 1.8" to SSD - should not be a problem.
