If I do absolutely no gaming, should I pay $50 to upgrade from 512MB to 1GB on a HD4650 graphics card on the FW 490 I am about to order?

The simple answer is NO, if you are not into gaming, then there is no point paying extra.

The complicated answer is DEPENDS, since the 1080p FullHD screen is only available if you have the 1GB card, and sometimes it's useful to have a high resolution screen.
