I have done a couple of searches and haven't found any answers. I have a Vaio FW245 (Best Buy Black Friday Special). The wireless card (Intel 5100 wifi link) on this pc is a POS. The range is abysmal and it maxes out at 150mbps. I'd like to swap it out for a 5300 unit. Has anyone done this? If so, did wireless performance and range improve. Is it the half card or full car (mini pci-e)?

I know I will have to add an extra internal antenna. Anyone have a vendor/part no for the extra antenna?

Lastly...Sony doesn't supply a repair manual or diagrams so any advice on where the lan card is located would be appreciated.

I too also want to swap my 5100 for the 5300, but unsure about it also. From what i have read i think the 5100 is a mini pci e
