    12 sec boot up...

    Original Spec (2009 VGN FW35G)

    New parts :
    - Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T9900 Socket P 3.06GHz processor (1064 MHz FSB)
    - Transcend 4GB DDR2 PC2-6400 (800MHz) Sodimm Ram (6-6-6-18-24 1.8V)
    In Dual Channel config;
    - 250 GB WD BLUE Sata 3 SSD HD WDS250G1B0A

    Running windows 10 64 bit version very smoothly and SUPER quietly! It boots up and shuts down in about 12-13 seconds - faster than anything I've ever owned!!

    Question: CPU's hover around 40C at idle and up to about 76C when stressed with CPU-Z : is this expected? Also, when working hard, the CPU multiplier jumps to 12 and yields 3190.5GHz - is this a software glitch considering cpu is 3.06 fixed?

    Thanks :)

    I have a similar FW373J that I fitted with the P9700 because it was "close enough" performance-wise but has lower TDP than the T9900 ( and it was cheaper). Mine also idles 38-40C, but only hits about 60-65C under load.

    If you think that your software has a glitch, try a different app & see if the results are the same. I use HWiNFO64.

    Thanks for the info. I bought some new thermal paste as the stuff they shipped the cpu with seemed dodgy at best - will try out your software first to avoid having to tear it apart again..
