I just upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 and now I don't have the option to choose my 1080p screen resolution (my screen is supposed to be fullHD). My highest choice is now 1280*1024. How do I fix this? Thanks!

Surely, you installed the drivers for your vid card. They call me 'Captain Obvious'.

It is VGN-AW290. I've only gotten it today as well. Still kinda having trouble finding stuff on Windows 7. My previous computer was XP

You're probably just missing a video card driver. Go to the device manager (Start Menu, type "Device Manager") and look for yellow/red arrows that indicate a missing driver. Look under "Display Adapters" and see if a driver is installed.

And yes, 7 will install GENERIC drivers. But for the higher resolution, the OP may need the manufacturers drivers. Plus, most systems run better with the man. drivers. Just my 2 cents :D

Where have I heard that???

Thank you everyone for your help. I downloaded that graphics driver and it works now.

Despite the general population of this board being a he, I'm actually a she; what else would explain my clueless question :)

Ha! Good for you-on the fix and the she. And I'm sure a lot of us 'he's' are clueless about some of the stuff you do on a daily basis.

Interesting side note-I was talking in another thread and there is one lady that just blew my mind. Talking all technical and posting answers and fixes and resolutions for others to try. I thought-this guy is good. Turns out to be a female and it just threw me for a loop as most people do not expect women to be into computers.
