Hi, is it possible to upgrade Sony FW1 series to 8GB RAM (2x4GB)?The official specification from Sony only says 4GB but the motherboard is nearly identical to FW5 except the video card and FW5 officially supports 8GB. Both of them come with PM45 chipset which should supports 8GB RAM.

Has anyone actually tried it and got the BIOS recognized the whole 8GB? If it works, I am planning to use 64 bit OS with it.

I dont see why not, although i am an f owner and not fw. For F, the official max ram is 8gb published by Sony. But in fact people can put in 16gb of ram.
So for FW, 8GB should be the maximum limit, whether it's FW1 or FW5. Of course, you need 64bit OS to recognize as you have said.
