I am planning some upgradations/modifications to the Vaio SA which I intend to buy shortly:

    Upgrading to 8GB
    Replacing the HDD with SDD
Replacing the ODD with the replaced HDD
Putting the replaced ODD in a external ODD Enclosure

As a regular visitor of this forum I found many helpful tips. After reviewing them I have decided to buy:

RAM: Corsair 4 GB DDR3 Laptop Memory CMSO4GX3M1A1333C9
    Amazon.com: Corsair 4 GB DDR3 Laptop Memory CMSO4GX3M1A1333C9: Electronics

SSD: Intel 510 Series 250 GB SATA Version 3 2.5-Inch
    Amazon.com: Intel 510 Series 250 GB SATA Version 3 2.5-Inch Solid-State Drive: Electronics

    Fenvi HDD Caddy
2nd HDD caddy Macbook pro OptiBay SuperDrive SATA 9.5mm | eBay

Sony Face Plate/ ODD Bezel for Vaio SA:
V030 ODD BEZEL (BLACK) (part#427655211) for model: VPCSA25EC

USB 2.0 External Slim CD/DVD Drive Enclosure Case
Amazon.com: USB 2.0 External Slim CD/DVD Drive Enclosure Case For Laptop Notebook CD-RW DVD Drive with IDE Connector (Only Case!!): Electronics

It would be great if you guys can share your opinion if you have performed similar upgradations. Let me know your valued opinions on my choice of parts. I am expecting your advice and suggestions.

    Thanks

YIKES!! As far as I can tell, that enclosure is NOT compatible.

The connection on the ODD is a SATA one not IDE as the case says.

The SATA ones are a bit harder to track down but you should be able to find one on ebay.

    Thanks for the correction.
    Is this the correct one:
Amazon.com: USB2.0 Slim DVD / CD RW Burner External Enclosure Caddy Case with SATA Connetor For all Laptop Notebook dvd cd burner[ Case only!! Drive is not included !!]: Electronics

Do you know if the following fits the Vaio SA? Between this one and the one I have chosen which one is better?
Amazon.com: 2nd HDD Hard Drive Caddy Adapter Compatible for Apple MACBOOK /MACBOOK PRO with 9.5mm-high Drive SATA Interface: Electronics

    Thanks again.

    1. Enclosure - will probably fit but is ugly as hell :)
    2. Caddy will fit but you won't be able to attach the faceplate. It's not removable. Get Fenvi with removeable faceplate from eBay.
