Ok - i found this Vaio Z really cheap and want to upgrade the harddrive and RAM (it comes with only 1 GB of ram)

Will all PC 8300 1033 Mhz DDR3 Ram slots work ?
What specifications do i need to look for aobut the harddrive? -can i pop in a SSD drive?

Any help would be highly appreciated!

THe Solid State Drive i am considering is the OCZ 120GB Vertex Solid State Drive - The performance will be much better than the default 120 GB 5400 RPM drive right?

    PC3 8500 = ddr3 1066 is ok
If going for a 32 bit you can add 2gb only
you can also drop a ssd as well, i just finished upgrading to OCZ's vertex ssd and compared to previous ssd's is working wonderfully without any freezes or stuttering, also the responsiveness is greatly improved, battery live gained 30 minutes or so! and that's compared to my previous seagate 7200 rpm 320 hdd !!

Hey Dart22 - thanks for your reply :)
Sounds very cool about the SSD! - is it hard to switch the harddrive on the Z?

IF you mean the physical process of replacing the hard drive i'll admit other laptops are easier to open than the Z, if you dont have the stomach for that sort of thing i suggest taking it to technician

lots of usfel info on the thread below including replacing the hard drive!
