So I did the unthinkable for someone who's not too computer literate and opened up said laptop and installed a DVD RW drive and a new hard drive (which I just tested to make sure everything fit and was installed correctly and now I'm back on my old one).

The DVD RW drive is too thick it seems cause since the laptop is curved downward it can't open but it's installed properly and is recognized and all... Do I have to get rid of it? If so, can someone recommend me a proper size for one?

Also, the specs say that my ram is DDR SDRAM-333 Mhz, but when I went to a site to check what ram I needed based on my model number, is says microdimm, which is much more expensive/rare...

Help! I dunno much about this and I just want to know what kind of RAM and what kind of DVD RW drive to buy and any advice or tips.

    THANKS!!! BIG TIME SMILE :)

Is it just the bezel on the drive that is keeping it from opening and closing properly? If that's the case and you've been brave enough to get this far, perhaps you'd consider doing some creative dremel work on the bezel to get it to match the contours of your notebook. I wouldn't think that would affect the operation of the drive itself and if you did a neat enough job it might not even be noticeable.
And from doing a web search of several sites it does appear your notebook does indeed require the 172 pin microdimms. Ouch. They are very spendy.

You have to use 9.5mm drive to fit S260. I recommend panasonic Uj842 or uj832. Try Ebay.

I have no idea what that means! :X

Also, my keyboard (which had to be removed to get inside the thing) was hell to get back on, and now it's bending up at the sides and it's weird; how can I get it to lay down flat??

    Thanks for the help!
