    Hi

I've worked out the physical process of replacing the installed 200GB 2.5 inch Hard Drive to a 500GB Werstern Digital 500GB 2.5 inch Hard Drive. Overall it looks pretty easy. It's what happens once the drive is fitted and I turn on the laptop that I'm a bit worried about.

Do I just load the recovery discs as usual or is there something I need to do in BIOS? Also will the motherboard cope with a 500GB Hard Drive?

    Many thanks for any help.

    Phil

PS Here ae my laptops stats if anyone needs to know:

Nothing needs to be done except to load some sort of image onto the drive. Rather than reverting back to the recovery disks and thereby being back to the "out of the box" state, you could image your existing drive and use that to restore the image to the new drive. You would then, of course need to increase the size of the resulting partition. But Vista will let you easily do that.

    Thanks for that.

All of my data is backed up anyway on a big 1TB external drive, so to be honest to get rid of all the rubbish that has now stacked up on my laptop I'd rather it be reverted back to the "out of the box state". So presumably just stick the recovery discs in and off I go?

Thanks for helping me. I get the drive tomorrow so I'll let you know how I get on.

    Cheers! :)
