    Hi all
long time lurker but first post!
    I have an old VAIO NS21Z which I still use as my laptop. It has Intel PM45 Express Chipset and a core2duo P8600 (2.4GHz, 1066MHz FSB,25W). I was given a core2quad Q9100 (2.26GHz, 1066MHz FSB,45W) and of course I tried the upgrade.
Unfortunately the laptop wont boot with the quad core( the green leds lights up but nothing more).
Is there anything I could try? Any ideas?
    Thanks a lot!! :)

You’re a bit late to the party, I might say... so I assume the audience is limited.
Does it not even boot into BIOS? If it does you could review the settings there, set them to default and maybe adjust?

google T61 QX9300, and you should be able to find my thread about 5 years ago......
As for the PM45/GM45, the thinkpad guru are running coreboot

Given that you are gonna be bottlenecked by the GPU more, it is not a worthy effort
