    I currently have 4gb ( 2 x 2 ) DDR2 - 800

I was wondering if there are any other specifics I need to look for in the RAM?

Has anyone figured out if it's possible to upgrade to 8gb of ram on an SR290? I have been trying to find the answer to this question for a while now :(

I'm pretty sure the SR4xx series can be upgraded to 8 gb of ram but im not sure about the SR2xx series.

Other things you should look for in ram besides capacity and speed is the cas latency and maybe voltage.

Why would you want to upgrade to 8 gb of ram anyways? 2x4gb of ddr2 800 ram costs around $400. I think you are better off upgrading the HDD to an SSD.

    Thanks, Speed.

Do you know if anyone here with an SR490 has it configured with 8gb from the factory? I would like to know what brand of ram Sony is using for that specific configuration.

That low voltage ram is near impossible to get right now and has to cost an arm and a leg.
