I cant seem to get a straight answer out of anyone, they weren't even sure at the Sony store. Does installing a new HDD on the Z void the warranty. Normally I would assume no, but I'm not sure in this case. Do I have to have them install it for me, or can I just go to town on it with a screwdriver?

not sure, as the process is different for this one, you might want to call the customer service..

All upgrades must be done in Sony authorized repair centre in order to keep warranty (at least here in Austria).
