Hi. I have a VGN-CR290 notebook pre-installed with Vista Home Premium. I was thinking of upgrading from Vista to 7 RC1 and I was wondering if I can still re-install Vista using my VAIO recovery partition after I had made the upgrade? Thanks.

You can reinstall vista using the recovery DVD's. But it's always a good idea to dual boot 7 with Vista, so you can avoid reinstalling vista back.

+1 on dual booting...it is safer that way.

I had been dual booting Vista and Windows 7 since Windows 7 betas started appearing just before xmas. I found that in the last few months I've just not been using Vista at all, so that partition has now been removed and I'm running Windows 7 solo. Build 7100 RC is marvellous.

But yeah, until you're sure you don't need Vista for anything anymore (I don't myself), then dual booting is the way to go.

    Hi.
I have a VGN-SZ2XP and I just installed Windows 7. Everything seems pretty much ok in terms of normal use - bar the FN keys not working.

I've read the posts regarding drivers for windows 7 but I don't really understand where I can get them from. Can anyone help? E.g. for the touchpad

On a similar note, what are the disadvantages to NOT installing all the sony apps - e.g. battery management. If everything works ok then do I have to?

    Thanks
