Hi if you have the VGN-UX280P please please please could you send me the driver to the Alps Pointing Stick!!!!!!!!

It is in your driver directory under pointing I beleive. I am the very uhappy owner of the Vista running VGN-UX390N and need to downgrade to XP which is what the older VGN-UX280P runs .

The driver I need is at the sony web site
    http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=VGNUX280P&upd_id=2317&os_id=7
but the darn executable contains a check which rejects my model number as not being suitable. Hence I need a zip file of the directory as you have it on your machine.

I need this asap and will pay pal you a $50 donation for the trouble!

    Many Thanks, willyhoops

I haven't own a TZ but I have been able to use another SZ Model's driver for my SZ. If you use the installer sony provided, you will got rejected, so try the Universal Extractor instead. Install and restart, right click at the file you mention before and select "UniExtract Here" and wait, search in the folder that appear for setup.exe and run it, you should bypass the Sony's Model Checking script.

The file you posted was ALDOTH-01107405-US.EXE... that's no use like I say from the post I need the extracted files.

The universal extractor got me the mouse driver but for the bluetooth the install throws up corrupt cabinet file messages.

For the pen which after the mouse is what I would like the most it installs but then crashes when you try to calibrate. Either the harware has changed or the extractor has added a bug. I have everything working now except the touch screen pen. Like all Sony nonsense unless you install the driver the pen is virtually useless becuase it is innacurate and constantly tapping.

So the pen driver for my machine in Vista is here:
    http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=VGNUX390N&upd_id=2423&os_id=29
And for the older XP machine it is here:
    http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=VGNUX280P&upd_id=2162&os_id=7

I think I almost owe kanthai $50 but I would be happier if it really was getting me the files without errors - not so sure.

I am going to offer someone selling this machine on ebay $50 for a copy of the drivers folder.

    They could post to www.willyhoops.com/upload.htm

Refer to MicroPCTalk for your UX XP downgrade questions. You'll probably have better luck there.
