The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Using Recovery Cd's from Z51wg on Z21zn

    Hello al,

    I have a quick questions and thought id ask the experts here.

    I have a 3 month old VGN-Z21ZN, this came with Vista.

    My Wife has a new VGN-Z51WG, this came with Windows 7.

    I've applied for the Windows 7 from Sony but from what i understand its purly Windows 7 CD, not recovery CD's, so i would have to install all the drivers etc.

    Can I make the Recovery CD's from the Z51 and then rebuild my Z21 using them..

    From what i can see its only the processor and extra Ram that are different.
