Arrrgh, after another couple of hours to various sony employees, I still don't have an answer...

I want to know at what frequencies/bit depth the SZ can PLAY and RECORD at?

    44.1kHz/16bit (obviously)
    48kHz/16bit (obviously)
    48kHz/24bit (possibly)
    96kHz/16bit (nfi)
    96kHz/24bit (nfi)
    192kHz/16bit (nfi)
    192kHz/24bit (nfi)

This chipset seems to be "designed for musicians" as stated by Sony and does work reasonably well with its ASIO drivers, but I just can't get a clear answer from Sony on the specs.

Any info from you guys would be much appreciated!

if you are serious about recording, I can't imagine you wouldn't use external converters....

Still worth knowing for a quick fix on the fly... like playing back a clip in high fidelity by plugging it into a quality stereo for someone to hear...

It's more the frustration of Sony themselves not knowing the specs of their own damn machine, makes me all twitchy!
