I bought my VGN-FZ90HS in Japan with the intention to remove Japanese software to install English Visa Home Premium. I know that the warranty will void by this act, but as I don't like the installed Japanese Vista, I had to do it anyway. In drive C, there was a copy of the drivers and those I copied away before the installation. Later, all the drivers worked fine; however, Vaio utilities software is missing. That mean losing many of the functions of the laptop included camera utilities, AV mode..etc. I tried to download English version of Vaio Utilities from US website (My computer is equivalent to the Vaio VGN-FZ180E) but these files don't work in Japanese computer as they don't recognize, in the first confirmation check, the series name VGN-FZ90HS sold inside Japan. Sonystyle (Japan) provides neither English nor Japanese versions of these software in their support site. They are only present in the hidden partition of my laptop among the other restoration software. In addition, it is not easy to communicate with Sony support (Japan) in English. I appreciate your help greatly by providing any ideas on where to get an English version of the Viao Utilities (In addition to any other originally delivered software) installable in my laptop.

You need to change the model.txt in order to install VGN TZ180E drivers.

Thanks for the tip, however, I failed to find a file with the name Model.txt anywhere in the whole computer

The only available option in such a case is clean install. No upgrade option. To install, I formatted the drive, then installed English Vista Home Premium, then installed the drivers one by one. The drivers were originally kept in driver c, so before fomatting you need to copy then in external medium.
I didn't touch the hidden partition, so it is still available for restoration of the original japanese vista and computer settings and utilities

i found the model text file and changed it but i still get an error message with the same not intended for this computer.
how did you install the recovery utility surely the partition is useless without the utility to access it.
    ps
    c/windows/model.txt

To recover the computer back to factory setting using the data stored in the hidden partition, you dont need to install anything, just press F10 during reboot and then follow prompts.
