Hey I just bought a V505, so how does this set and deal sound to guys.

    V505EC
    Wireless LAN 802.11b/g
    PM4 1.7GHz
    512MB(256 Base)
    60GB
    CD-RW/DVD-ROM
    3 Years Warranty
On clearance for $2,120 at Sonystyle.com

Im also thinking about buying the double compacity battery.

Also does DVD-ROM mean I can write on a data DVD or only a DVD+RW can do that.

Looks decent, did you cash in on the $200 off SonyStyle.com gift certificate they're offering with any purchase?

DVD-ROM means it reads DVDs but does not write (burn) to a writable DVD. The problem you run into with a V505 is that you cannot upgrade the optical drive either. Kind of a bummer. So say a year from now you *really* want to burn DVDs using a laptop, well, you'll have to get an external drive or something. The 3-year warranty is wise.
