Not to burst your bubble, but the x2300 is nothing more than a slight remake of the X1300 or X1400. That card isn't DirectX10.0 either, despite what ATI's marketing department wants you to think.

the c series in other parts of the world had the go7400 too as an option, but not in the USA. probably the case with the cr too.

I just ordered a red CR and read that the new integrated Intel x3100 (965 gm) is exponentially better then the older GMA 950 chipset. It fully supports Aero glass and I believe will support Direct x 10. The benchmarks here look good: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Graphics-Media-Accelerator-X3100.2176.0.html

From the looks of it, the new x3100 probably will support Vista much better and perform better then the ATI x2300 and probably take less juice as well. The concern I have is driver support from Intel. I here it already supports WOW and other games. I also read that Intel is busy with driver support with this chipset. Its looks like Intel is taking graphics more seriously as far as gaming and other intensive graphics support. I think it maxes out at 358MB support for the x3100. Sony said they may ship my CR next week.. I am also having them put 2 gigs of ddr and upped the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7300 2.0Ghz. Well see if this notebook can game. Since this graphics is optimized for Vista.. I am hoping it will run faster than many people suffer from legacy cards.

    X3100 3DMark03: around 1700 Points
    GMA950 3DMark03: 1300 points

only 400 points more, you can't expect it as a gaming card, it's still dedicated.
the ati x2300 is about the same as ati 1400 or the geforce go 7400. so 3DMark03 would be aroud 4360 points - 5000 points.

Thanks for the clarification. I admit I am not a gamer and misunderstood those scores. I will be happy to play some older flight simulators and NFS games that were coded 3-5 years back. My main concern is battery life. I understand that some of the Sony's have switchable graphics which is the best of both worlds. I almost bought a SZ.. its size is very nice. But then I saw that red CR and really liked the look. I know I will probably think its fast being my older laptop is a toshiba 2800 s201 running ME. The CR will no doubt seem fast to me.

I was wondering if the CR is assembled in the San Diego plant.. anyone know?
