looks like the old N series, so fat, same as the C series, stupid design usb and even audio ports on the right hand side of the laptop.

Don't like the whole black on grey thing, it somehow makes it look so '90s..
-
I second that. The hinges, the vents, the colors, the hard edges . . . it really reminds me of the hulky bulky computer days.
-
Might i say ugly... (hide under a table...)
They should have just painted it all black... (hide under the table again..) -
here two more..

If the colour was just either silver or black.. it would be perfect..
Guess Sony din learn anything from Dell.. -
FZ i just looked on the UK vaio site...no mention of it, there isnt even a previous FZ series... is it a new series?
closest we have, form factor wise, is called the FE -
I think it is a new series indeed. I kind of like the design, it wouldn't be my first choice for a new laptop, but I wouldn't completely eliminate it.
-
i see a 1080p sticker. I guess it'll have bluRay??
-
Yes, the Premium model has Blu-ray and comes loaded for only $2000.
I wish you guys would stop whining about the looks of the FZ series, everyone else appreciates it.

Those shots make this notebook [FZ] look 213425123252626346234 times better.
-
Looks awesome.
-
Hey if the price range is as +-2000$ i´m gonna buy one for sure!!
It look´s so nice! -
ill tell you what sickened me about those 1080p stickers.
you know the big 17incher sony's? AR series i think
anyway the top model came with 1920x1200 res screen....the 1080p was on and thats fair enough the screen can do that res no problems and it had BR drive.
the next one down however, packed a 1440x900 res 17inch panel....and in all the sony stores i have been in...was still wearing the 1080p sticker. i was just like..that screen doesnt even come close to 1080p. why advertise it as such -
Don´t u get it, it´s not about the screen resolution! It´s all about the HDMI output and HDCP support!
-
They are advertising it that way because it will play Blue Ray. Ostensibly, you could plug it into your TV's HDMI port and get a solid HD picture.
There are some better photos on this web site:
www.sony.com/pr/fz -
well i get it and i do too think the 1080p should not have been advertised on a screen res thats not capable of displaying it.
I dont know all the combos of the AR's in the US but i think most people will associate 1080p with screen res.
Sure i understand a lower res AR may have the H.264 codec and BR hdmi output but you would at least think the unit its installed in would have capabilities to play 1080p
It would also be poor marketing for Sony to presume the ones buying the lower screen res to all already have external 1080p monitors -
The sticker is not on the screen..
And the 1080 sticker is on other products aswell.
Like the digital vidcam´s and blu-ray disk players..and so on..
