Hello everyone,
this is my first post in this forum. Unfortunately these are not good news, a month ago my Vaio VGN-FZ250FE (6 months old) started having problems during boot sequence so I will briefly describe what exactly happens:
1.- When I press the Power Button the I/O, Battery (if not plugged to the wall outlet), BT & WLAN leds come on. The HD led comes on for about 1 second then it turns off.
2.- The VAIO logo will not appear on the screen but the DVD drive makes the common reading sounds during start up. I do not know if there is post or not. After all these nothing happens, it does not matter if I wait 5 or 15 minutes.
3.- MOST IMPORTANT is that it only happens when I leave the notebook turned off during long periods of time, lets say 5 or 6 hours. Once the problem happens I just keep the Power Button pressed until the notebook turns off, after this I turn it on again and it will work normally.
I can even turn it off and then on again and it will work fine, everything normal.
4.- When the problem happens and after I hard rebooted the notebook once I am in Windows the date and time is messed up. I do not know if this is because of the hard reboot.
5.- There are not BSODs or any sign of problems during normal use of the computer, even if I work with it for 5 hours.
As you could read this is a weird problem so if any of you have had similar issues, please tell me what you did to solve it.
Thanks in advance for your help and any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
Shoryu.

This sounds like a BIOS problem.
Try ejecting the DVD drive and keeping it ejected while the computer completes posting. This was a common workaround for my HP, which also happened to have a messed up BIOS.
If your computer is under warranty, I recommend that you flash (upgrade) the BIOS to the latest version posted on Sony's web page for your model. -
Hey, thanks for the reply but the problem still the same.
Even with the DVD drive opened the notebook will not post.
I reseated the RAM and HD with no results. -
Is your computer under warranty? The last thing you can do is update the BIOS. If that doesn't work, then its time to send it in for repair.

Problem solved!
Looking the motherboard pictures in the "VAIO FZ unscrewed" post made by Storm3016 I noticed that there is a NiMh battery beneath the RAM which, doing a little research, is in fact responsible of keep the clock running while the computer is turned off, known as the RTC (real time clock) battery.
Having this information I googled for the troubleshooting related to a weak RTC battery and I found in a Toshiba support forum that letting the computer turned on, plugged to the wall outlet and with the battery completely charged for about 24 hours should recharge the NiMh RTC battery.
So I did this with my VAIO FZ and it is booting fine again. I hope this information can be useful to anyone with a similar problem like mine and thank you Bog for your help.
