The only real disadvantages of the VAIO FZ-models that I can find can be described as 'heat', 'noise' and 'battery life', which are all related to processor and videocard performance.

Money isn't a real big problem for me, so normally I would just choose the model with the best processor and videocard. However, since I read that this also makes the FZ-model relatively hot, noisy and battery-ineconomic, I prefer making a more 'balanced decision'. I don't know much about processors and videocards though...

That's why I was hoping some of you could advise me on this decision; Like I said, money isn't a big problem. I am looking for a good looking, well portable notebook which performs fantastically. The faster the better of course, but since I don't game, don't do any intensive videoediting (I do use Photoshop now and then though), I am actually only looking for processor (and videocard) performance regarding intensive multitasking (watching a movie, listening music, using a spreadsheet, browsing the web, running a virus scan etc).

What model (processor/videocard combination) would you advise me? Thanks a lot in advance for your insights here!

I think FZ is a great model , am probably getting it or Toshiba A305.

But either way , I think T8300, 4gb ram, NVIDIA 8400GT and 300GB HDD , FZ 479? or something like that is the best configuration for the Sony.

this model is what I was thinking of ordering but if you dont mind spending more or money is not your concern at all, then what about the below configuration.

I can't find a T8300 or T9300 model any more at Sony site but they used to have these.

But the T8100 is not much slower and the FZ screen seems much better than the one on the CR or SZ.

The biggest difference between those 2 moels is a bluray burner unless you need that the cost differnec doesn't pay...also as I just found out CTO is not a big premium over preconfigured models and you only pay pay for what you want.
