I have an NW270F and it will not boot up. I bought it from someone and it worked perfectly for the past 7 or so months, but in the past couple days the power light turns on and the battery is fully charged but the HDD indicator doesn't light up at all. The few times I've gotten it to boot completely the computer dies at some random point.

Is this a major problem? I took it to a repair shop and they said to call Sony because the laptop will most likely cost a lot to fix. The guy said it might be a problem with the motherboard. Unfortunately, I do not have the original purchase date so I don't know if it is still under warranty and Sony's repair costs without the warranty are through the roof.

Will it be worth it to get it repaired?

Does it work any better with mains supply attached? Even though the battery may be "fully charged" it could still be knackered.
Also try taking out the battery and disconnecting from the mains, then keep the start button pressed down for 30 seconds. Then reconnect everything and see if it starts.
