    Hi all,

New to the forum. I'm trying to restore the C drive of my SZ340P (XP-SP2), using the recovery DVD. It goes thru all the steps, starts up XP in its factory setting and goes into System Preparation, where it stays on forever -- ~24 hours, still running. taskmgr shows sysprep taking 0 CPU and ~18M of memory. How long does it usually take?

Killing the process seems to cripple the NIC, Wireless Card and all the rest. System Preparation 2.0 then pops up after every reboot -- since it'd never finished during restore -- and the process simply hangs when I try to "seal" it.

I'm not sure what to do here. From what I understand, I shouldn't have to do anything with SysPrep as an end-user. Any idea how to about this problem?

    Thanks.,
    Wasim

The problem is the garbage Symantic security. If you uninstall that garbage
that comes with the software package and then re-run system prep it finishes right away.
