Hi,
I do not know what sony is doing with it's new Z but looks like they start screwing it up. why is there only a 2.5 dual core CPU while the SVS can have a 2.9 Ghz cpu?.
And why is there only 8Gb for Z while now the S can be specced up to 12Gb (1x4Gb + 1x8Gb)
So I'm wondering are the SVS & SVZ/Z2 sharing the same RAM module ?
Upgrading Z2/SVZ up to 16Gb would be great.

The Z series has the option to have a quad core 2.1 GHz CPU , SVS 15'' also has that option, however the SVS 13'' doesn't because it might cannibalise into the vaio Z sales.
SVS and SVZ are definitely not using the same ram module:
SVS - 4GB Samsung DDR3l soldered on board, 1 free dimm slot.
SVZ- 2 Proprietary Ram cards - I think it's more likely that it's soldered. -
Thanks for the answer, but I've seen some users saying that RAM was not soldered on VPC-Z2, likely it is the same on SVZ.
Well I may give a closer look next time I open my Z2.
btw, there's the same price increased in france for the SVZ... what a weird thing to say that starting pric is 1313€ while you can configure at 1230 or something. -
VAIO S & Z ram module ?
