I'm thinking of getting this laptop but have read a lot of reviews saying the touchpad can be finicky, and there aren't any stores around where I live that carry that particular model. Is this something that's still an issue or was it fixed through driver changes (many of these reviews are from almost a year ago)?

Since no one responded to this, I'll throw in my thoughts.

I have the Vaio SE which is the model before (it has physical buttons) and the trackpad wasn't great at first.

Fishing around for different drivers, tweaking the settings and installing TwoFingerScroll have made it fantastic. I tried a new S15 in the store and the trackpad was similar to mine BEFORE the tweaks. I can only imagine that after the tweaks and replacing the drivers you will find yourself happy with the trackpad.

I'm pretty sure the S13 has the same trackpad... I think it's very good, easily on par with the MBP (which is the de facto standard). It's very accurate and has a nice subtle texture. I especially like the size - it's one of the biggest trackpads I've seen.

If I have one complaint about it it's that the right-click area is a bit vague, since there are no markings on the surface.
