I spent a long time drudging through threads here before deciding on and buying an S15 and I absolutely love it, but there is one big issue with my trackpad that keeps coming up (which I actually saw a post about here, but for some reason cannot for the life of me find it again)

What will happen is that randomly (it will work fine for an arbitrary amount of time) my trackpad will decide that a click anywhere on the trackpad is within the right click area and this will not fix itself until the computer is completely shutdown and turned back on (a restart is too fast).

I've tried uninstalling the Sony provided driver and installing the Synaptics generic driver and it seems that the issue persisted into the new driver (which also didn't have working two finger scrolling -- obnoxious!) and I can't find any mention of a new driver that fixes this issue. With the Sony provided driver it seems that when the issue is occurring, when looking at the screen that allows you to adjust the right click area, it seems to be always registering a touch in the bottom right corner which is probably the source of the issue if I had to guess.

This issue has affected me on both the factory installed image and with a clean install of Win7(x64) with the Sony provided driver. The issue happens frequently enough that even with the ridiculously quick SSD boot times, it's a real pain to have to restart every time it occurs.

Does this happen to everyone? Should I send it in to Sony to get it fixed or what? (And I guess while I'm posting on the topic, is there an updated / modified drive that provides additional features -- e.g. 2 finger click?)

This doesn't happen to me, but I have my settings setup a little differently. I have it so that any tap or click is a left click. And to right click its just a two finger tap. I like this much better than the default since I don't have to look at the trackpad to decide where my right click is.

You may not like those settings, but it would probably solve your problem. Something to think about

Sorry for resurrecting a 2 month old post)

I would guess we have different laptops or at least different driver versions (mine is 16.0.0.5) since the Sony provided driver doesn't seeem to have that feature and the generic driver had the functionality - but if I remember correctly, it didn't work. That said, I would be more than happy with that fix if it was possible on a 2012 s15.

Any other input or should I call Sony support and report the mousepad defective?

how do you set up any tap will be left click? I don't see the settings. Thx.

Edit*** nvm. Figured it out. I just shrink the right click button area to smallest. Now, everything is perfect. Thanks guys.
