Hey I am a new member of these forums but have been using them a lot lately to help me decide on a new laptop for college. After my research I decided on the Sony VAIO SA with a model number of VPCSA290X. I recieved the laptop on August 1 and bought a CTO with an i7, 256 SSD, 4gb of RAM (which i upgraded to 8 myself), windows professional 64bit, extended battery.

So far I have loved that laptop, the SSD makes windows boot extremely fast (~15 sec) and everything runs great. However, I have had a few issues. First of all, the screen has some light bleeding at the bottom. This is really only noticable when the screen is black and it hasnt bothered me too much. Another issue is the screen hinge. There is a loose spot right around 90 degrees that just feels awkward.

My last issue is a very strange problem and the reason I'm coming here for help. For some reason when I press a bunch of keys on the keyboard in quick succession, the computer will go to sleep. More specifically, if i press the arrow keys a bunch, it will put the computer to sleep although I have reproduced the result without touching the arrow keys.

The computer will wake right back up but doesnt leave any indication as to why it went to sleep. I contacted a sony rep who took control of my computer in an attempt to fix the problem but had no luck. He tried reinstalling the power management utility and the keyboard driver but both did nothing to fix the problem.

I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions or possible fixes to my problem.

If I cannot fix the problem, do you guys recommend me sending it in to get repaired? and if so, how likely will they scratch it or damage it in the process? Or should I return it as I am still in the 30 day period and just buy a new one and wait two more weeks?
    Thank you.

return it, get a new one and be re-assured.

Besides, they just reduced the prices by $100 and are offering discounts for performance upgrades and 99$ for a $299 worth of PS3! You're going to be saving $ just by returning it and getting a new one too.

Oh thats a brand new offer. When I add the laptop and PS3 to the cart, it shows the $300 dollar price. Will this be corrected upon checkout? Also, will i get the same offer if I am shopping in the education store?
