That seems pretty cool, I don't quite understand how it works. I know how autostereoscopic displays work... but I don't see how you can just add a screen cover and some software to make any LCD autostereoscopic.

I wouldn't really recommend buying it unless you are a 3D junkie and will do with average quality 3D. Extremely narrow sweet spot, blurry images, ghosting and everything else that makes 3D "bad".
    Very negative impressions so far.

^ Besides, not everyone reacts the same way to different 3D techniques. I have yet to see a 3D solution that was natural and effortless. Except for IMAX-HD, even 3D in a movie theater doesn't have the WOW factor I'm looking for. And IMAX made me seasick! :p

Yes but generally auto stereoscopic displays so far (outside of prototype TVs) i.e. on sale are average at best and do not match the 3D quality of true 120hz Active Shutter/Passive Glasses 3D.
P.S. I guess you're from Asia too going by the model number of your Z1. Go to a Sony Style Store and ask them to play a good 3D bluray like Avatar on Vaio F217HG. ;)

I was including active shutter and passive glasses in my post above. If I concentrate really hard, I can begin to see some depth in the picture after a while.

I suppose things have improved a bit. The last movie I saw in 3D was Clash of the Titans in Singapore last year using passive glasses, and I wished I had chosen to watch the non 3D version instead.

I've seen demos of Samsung and Sony 3D LED TVs, and even the demos leave me cold. I guess I'm one of the unfortunate few for whom 3D video doesn't seem to work. :( Perhaps my astigmatism has something to do with it.

I understand but please try the F217 once. Its free from usual 3D negatives like ghosting and crosstalk. You might find the F217 3D picture appealing. It really is has one of the best 3D of any display - TVs included due to its ultra fast motion response.
If you don't like the 3D on even the F217 then yes maybe 3D won't work for you.

The 3D F is far superior in every way. The Asus,BenQ,Acer 3D monitors/laptops have crosstalk and ghosting, the 3D F has none of it. Also the screen itself is superior with faster motion response and better than IPS viewing angles.

But then me saying all this would probably mean nothing to you, so I suggest you check it out yourself and realize the difference between 3D F and any other 3D monitor/laptop out there or even 3D TVs.

P.S. Check out THIS review by 3dvisionblog admin. He has reviewed all 3D monitors/laptops and in the review he has mentioned the 3D F blows them all out of the water.
