I'm having a problem with adjusting the brightness of my screen. The FN + F4/F5 buttons are working, but when I try to adjust the brightness, nothing happens. The brightness level window appears but it doesn't do anything else. It doesn't matter if I plug it in or run on battery power. The problem goes away when I restart the computer but comes back when I put it to sleep and then turn it back on. Any suggestions? Thanks.

edit: on the little window it shows that the brightness level is at one bar, but it is actually much more then that.
