    VAIO SV-Z keyboard change

    Hi All,

    I have a surreal problem: Want to buy a new VAIO Z (SV-Z) in Norway and they can supply it only with Nordic layout keyboard. And they show that 'sorry we can't help you sir' attitude. They suggested me to fly to UK and buy the laptop there. :mad:
    Does anybody know how to change the keyboard? Would it be necessary to change the whole keyboard and what not, or just the key caps? Yes, I have spoken with their support center in Norway. They can't even confirm such transplant would be possible.

    hi

    i had a close issues with my SE, since i bought it from canada with a canadian QWERTY keyboard, us i'm in France we have an AZERTY keyboard, i have just pick out the key caps and changed the order to make it AZERTY one, so i guess it is same for all sony's laptop and you should just change the key caps (or reorder them if possible).

    the Sony is real poor last years, has weak support and strange politics.. I have same problem - I want to buy new SV-Z but with UK keyboard instead of DE, and they can't help me at all.. no special orders available like it was in the past on www.sonystyle.eu ... I'm thinking its time to change the brand, the new mcbook pro with retina is real amazing and its possible to buy even with US layout in Europe.. as well as any other.

    whats about your question - for change the keyboard you will need to buy entire plamrest, as the keyboard is integrated, and it will cost you 180 UK pounds + delivery, also it is not so easy to replace, as the laptop is assembled with double-sided scotch tape (YEAH, BRAVO SONY!!!) and you may crack the motherboard while disassembly..

    well, in other words it is not not an option for a machine for 3500EUR.

    SONY IT IS SHAME!!!! SHAME ON YOU!

    Have you guys tried finding a proxy/someone who is willing to purchase on your behalf and ship it to you? The only cost would be shipping from the UK+probably some money for the service.

    And thanks Everybody for suggestions. The machine is being bought by a company so I can't just ask somebody else to buy it for me in another country. Tried to get hold on Sony CEO to ask what he thinks about it but failed. I decided to purchase the laptop anyway with Nordic layout and work from there.
    I am surprised that the laptop is assembled with double-sided tape. Have seen a video on youtube of a guy taking it apart easily.
    I promise to post how this absurd situation finally resolved. It may take... over a month as I will be traveling.
