That's how I felt about uninstalling the annoying Protector Suite. Finally I uninstalled it, and now I'm so happy to be rid of it (although now I have a useless fingerprint reader on my puter.)

About the little sticker, i'm a dork. I didn't even realize I could take off the Centrino and the Vista sticker until advised here. Yay they are gone! and DLNA too (I have no idea what that even means).

This sticker business is hilarious. I'm beginning to think these guys got their laptops just so they could impress other nerds with their hardware. It's like the same guys who have all their hardware listed in their sigs, what's the point?

I bet you guys walk around with all the stickers still on your clothes too just so everyone can gawk at how much you paid for them.

is there any reason you felt compelled to respond just so you could be condescending, arrogant and rude? let's just stick to substance, aight?

Yep, that's what brand logos are for. (I like to avoid clothes that advertise what brand they are, but that's actually pretty hard to avoid in casual clothing. For example, is there any brand of sneaker that doesn't say what brand it is?)

On the other hand, it's kind of cool that the Tumi logo on my briefcase screams "I PAID A LOT FOR THIS BRIEFCASE!!!"

Even sans labels, the Sony Vaio still says "Sony Vaio". And let me be honest here, the LOOK of the Sony was one of my chief reasons for buying it. The ugly Lenovo X60s may have actually met my needs better.

If you're going to sell the laptop down the road, I would leave it on. It makes the laptop look new again.

I love stickers on my laptop and can't even dream of peeling them away...not just the small stickers, but all of them.

I cannot grasp the mentality of those who take them off.

Stickers make ur notebook unique and give it a personality, an identity.
Without stickers all laptops look the same regardless of the model and make.

After having paid a fortune to get the latest cutting edge technology, do u want it to look like an old model? don't u want the world to know that u've got the newest technology?

I for one take pride in showing off the piece of equipment I have.

Removing the stickers is like DOWNGRADING ur latest state-of-the-art machine and stripping it off its uniqueness.

Well, in that case why don't u scrub the paint off too..so that the thing with santa rosa looks like a beggar's briefcase...wud be a great deterrant for potential thieves eh?

No soul wud ever steal ur toy..u can leave it in the open and go for a stroll.

How abt obscuring the logo? What if the thief is on the lookout for an FZ and u happen to have just that!

Any black chunky looking briefcase looks like a laptop briefcase. What else should I carry the thing around in?

I took all the stickers off my brand spankin' new sz691. I haven't had a chance to take pics of it since I've been spending most of my time trying to do a semi-clean install.

LOL This is my favorite post on all of the messageboards. I laughed my butt off...

...and then I removed my stickers and found the hilarious post to be EXACTLY 100% dead on. The Intel sticker came off great and I just got the NVidia sticker off but now there is a ton of residue... It' really wierd glue and not coming off easy. Hmm... ok back to work...

This last Windows Vista sticker is extremely stubborn... I can't even get it started.

I spilled goo-gone on our dining room table... I might be in trouble.

The Vista sticker took forever to get going but once it did it went really nicely. However I had a TON of glue left over and was about to come on here and denounce the Vista sticker as having the worst "aftermath" score... but then I realized that the tiny little bit of glue remaining on the Vista sticker worked great at getting the remainder of the glue off of the Laptop.

I'd give the Vista's aftermath an A and that NVidia sticker a D-

Ahh! My laptop is naked! But in the long run I'll love it and won't have to deal with those annoying problems that stickers have after a year of wear.

    A+ thread!

I used a creditcard. It worked nicely. The nVidia sticker was a tough one.

I love the way my SZ looks!

I couldn't beleive the title of this thread, but it really is SEVEN PAGES of people discussing the merits of removing-or-not-removing little square stickers... absolutely hillarious!!! But also a bit disturbing. Sartre your comment is spot on and I have given you "Rep" for it...

As for the retort about sticking to substance: Grundler, are you being ironic, or do you really think these stickers are a substantial issue?!

...someone should start a Post-Modernist SZ thread 'round here...

    Cheers ;)

I wish I've seen this thread when I got my laptop. :)
I would say: remove while they're new, before edges are worn and adhesive is in bedded in the paint.
While my laptop was booting up for the first time I was peeling them off using my finger nails. No hassle, no residue.

So if I plan on using the thing for 4 years or so does it actually pay off to tear them out right now? Seeing as they might leave a "brighter/darker" spot than the actual palmrest when they eventually fall off?
