    Hello,

I was wondering if there was anybody here that might know where Sigmatel Audio Chip is located on the VAIO SZ1XX series. It can only be in 1 of 3 places; the main board, the PWB Board (Speakers attach here), or the CNX Board (Where audio jacks are located). If someone can tell which one the chip is located on I can order that part and get it fixed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for reading..

I know it's only been one day since I posted the question but does anyone think it would acceptable to post this outside the Sony sub-forum in maybe the Hardware Components and Aftermarket Upgrades section?

My sz is back together so maybe not much help but it`s more likely to be on the mainboard (MBX-XXX) I think i vaguely remember the audio chip logo on there.

What exactly is the problem? I am surprised the audio chip is having problems. I think its intergrated on the mainboard which means replacing the whole thing.

Edit: Pulled out my damaged MBX-170 motherboard and having a look at it now. Hmm actually not much markings so it could be on the other PCB with the speakers or jacks. Sorry don`t think i can be much help on this one. I think might be looking for markings like "STAC9872AK" or somewhere along that pattern.

Audio chip is located on power switch board. The board is underneath speakers cover.
