I would like to ask what dvd drive SZ and TZ are using. I owned a lot of dvds (multiple regions).

I would be grateful if the user can check your notebook and post the Model of your notenook and the dvd drives, so to determine whether it can be made region free...

    Thanks in advance

    My Sony G11 has the Matsh!ta UJ-852S.

I think that's one of the brands you will be wanting to avoid.

Same here. Matsh!ta shouldn't necessarily be a problem. I have my TZ running region free. Its drive is a Matsh!ta UJ852S.

He/She probably must have flashed the drive's firmware to one that runs without the region code check.

You dont need to do any firmware flashing to get region free. Most dvd drives let you switch the "region" 5 times before it finally locks it to the one you choose on the fifth change.

Use a program like slysoft's Any DVD to be able to change the region as you please without affecting the firmware of you DVD drive.

Unfortunately AnyDVD, Region Free, etc. don't work with M..****a drives at all. My drive is already lock after 4 region changes.
