    Hello everyone,

I recently acquired an Sony VAIO VGN-TT70B, loaded with Japanese version of Vista Home Premium, I've also purchased a copy of Win Vista Ultimate upgrade DVD's also in Japanese.

What I'm planning to do is upgrade the OS to the Ultimate edition and install one of the MUI's from the windows options but I've ran into a little problem. One would of thought it'll be a simple upgrade, like in XP!!

So... I wonder can anyone help? Anyone??

    For your reference.
I've created the Sony Recovery disks onto two DVD's, they're all in Japanese though... LOL!! It doesn't help me one bit!

    Anyway...

I tried to install the upgrade but I think something went terribly wrong cause after a restart I was greeted with a message saying the Boot Manager is Missing

After using disk one to repair the disk I find myself even more lost...
Cause now windows doesn't boot at all.. and it get's worst!!

I can't seem to invoke the recovery partition with F10 at startup.
Using the disks, I get nowhere!! I get a black page with two option and neither seems to do anything... is there supposed to be a delay?

What happens if I use the VAIO erase option?
Does it erase the entire drive including the hidden partition or is that safe?

My thinking is, the update corrupted the original install some-how...
Anyway, I'm at lost! So if anyone could shed some light on this, that would be bleedin' great!!

    Thanks in advance.

    Oh...

Out of curiosity, what is the VGN-TT70B similar to in the US,
should I decide to install a English version of the OS.

"Boot Manager is Missing" seems to be a problem with that updrage disk your using. You can use English version of the OS.

I don't think I can mix the Japanese OS with the English one.
Wouldn't things go even more wrong?

beside's Vista is a right pain in the arse!
