As I mentioned in the title, my VAIO TX would just crash everytime I hold it up on the left side. I even tried with tapping the bottom left part lightly and sometimes that can cause it to crash too. Whenever it crashes, it either makes the screen go blank, or it will make the machine hang and clicking anything else wouldn't work. Any idea what the problem could be and how to fix it?

The left side is where the heatsink is.. Maybe open it up and check if the heatsink is contacting the CPU properly?

I opened it up and took a look inside, the heatsink is connected properly. The machine would run fine as long as I don't move it around by carrying the left side. Anyone else got any ideas?

I would send it for repairs. This is abnormal behaviour.

What about the HDD, is it seated properly? It has shock absorbtion protection. Could it be affected while you are holding it on the left side?

I too have a TX37GP Notebook that crashes which being handled. It works fine when being used on the desk. It is also less likely to crash when the power is plugged in.

I have been told by a authorized Sony repair center hat the motherboard needs to be replaced which will cost around $800. I am on eBay looking for 2nd hand replacements.
