It's available in limited quantity here in Hong Kong. Not the official products from Sony Style though. I have seen the SSD + 160GB HDD version and it seems quite fast. It's very pricey lol.

Again, no one HAS the TZ yet outside of Asia. Yeesh!

However, if the TZ is like the other Sony notebooks (and I can verify when my brown G comes in tomorrow since it does come with the Felicia stuff; only way to get the brown in Japan), it's not a sticker. It sits where the Felicia sensor (or whatever it is) resides.

Yes, its not a sticker and cannot be removed, its a sensor to read Felica cards as a method of payment, applicable really only in Japan.

For those that are interested in ordering from Geekstuff4u, this is the reply I received when I inquired about the ordering and shipping time.

Basically, they will start taking orders on June 21st and since these are made to order, they do not have it stocked in their warehouse. Once the payment from you is cleared, they will place an order directly to Japan based on the config you ask for, which will take about 7 to 10 days for them to receive. another 1 to 2 days to install the OS if you don't pick the Linux OS, and then another 3 to 4 days to get it out to you. So all in all, it will take about between 2 to 3 weeks from the day you place the order. I do hope sony usa will start carrying TZs here by the end of June or beginning of July, but of course, that will take time and it might not be the same as the Japanese ones.

The UK specs are usually about what the US ones are, so it looks like the Japanese one from Dynamism seems like a good deal. Wireless N isn't even an option on the UK one I looked at.

Does Dynamism use stickers on the keyboard, or do they replace the entire keyboard for an English one?

No stickers. They don't replace the keyboard. It's ordered with a US keyboard since Sony offers it.

If there is no US English keyboard option, you get a Japanese keyboard.

I just spoke to 2 different sony styles store sales reps at different locations. One told me that it will likely come out in Nov of this year and the other one told me either June or July or this year.... obviously we're all hoping for the latter. Being that it was just announced in Europe a week after Japan started selling, I'm inclined to believe we will see it sometime next month.

The pictures on the Dynamism website does not show the fingerprint reader.

Can we assume that it is in the same location as fingerprint readers in earlier TX notebooks were?

Has anyone actually ordered one yet? Or are people waiting for it to be released in their own country?
I am in the process of ordering one, just finalising the details with a Japanese supplier and i have been quoted around $2400 which includes delivery.

Can you give more info on this? what type of config did you order and does your Japanese supplier speak english or ship to the US?

Ironic thing is, I work for a Japanese company with hundreds of Japanese nationals, but since I don't really know any, I can't go around asking if any one of them is willing to get one for me :D

I askesd for the following specs:

    1. OS = Windows Vista Home Basic
    2. Color = Black
    3. Processor = Core 2 Duo U7600(1.20 GHz)
    4. Memory = 2GB(2GB×1)
    5. Drive = 100GB HD
    6. Wireless lan = (802.11 a/b/g/n)
    7. Bluetooth = Yes
    8. Fingerprint sensor = Yes
    9. Keyboard = English
    10. Battary = Standard battery

I do apologise the price i was quoted was not around $2400 it was in fact $2480 and cost of shipping to the US (via Speedpost) is $40, so in total it is $2520. I believe it will be slightly cheaper as i plan to change number 6 to 802. 11 a/b/g and i think it works out slightly cheaper. Yep the supplier does speak English.
You can customize your laptop here if you can read Japanese:

This might be the lowest price to order the TZ90

    www.pricejapan.com

    Maker Sony
    Japan model name VGN-TZ90
USA Model Name Premimum carbon, Core 2 Duo U7600(1.20 GHz), 1G memory, 160G hard-disk, 802.11 a/b/g wireless LAN,
Other Name English keyboard, light battery, finger-print sensor and security chip
    Voltage 100 ~ 240V all

    Base price is $1,882

    Add $575 for 32GB SSD + DVD-Multi
    Add $165 for 2GB RAM

Total price w/ DHL shipping is $2,703
    With EMS shipping $2,683

This is compared to GeekStuff4U at $3032 + shipping

Price Japan also offers a "large" (which I assume is the "L" or standard) battery option, replacing the light one for $82.

thanks for the link, I just emailed them regarding more info.

I did the same thing you listed, but wanted a larger battery, I emailed asking if its the standard one (medium) or the enhanced (largest) as they don't list which. All together it came out to 333,904 yen which based on XO currency converter is $2,742 with DHL, but on their site its $2,791 which I asked why.
They also showed 802.11 abg not the N version which I also inquired and waiting for a response. I read on a couple of forums that people had positive things to say about pricejapan and they've been in business since 2001.

This is the cheapest I have seen so far and will most likely go with them, of course, I will need to buy my own OS as they have no english version.

Would I get the drivers from the sony usa site based on the TX as the TZ does not exist as of yet?

Trustedreview has a very lenient author. Almost every single laptop at least 8 out of 10 overall :D. Although, I do agree that the features are perfect, from my point of view I would have gave it a 9 for the left shift key. I use it all the time.

I doubt it. The reviewer stated the thickness to be 29mm, which means it was equipped with a standard battery.

He stated it was most likely due to his system having 1 gig of ram and having 2 would solve the issue, 1 gig is really the minimum for running Vista.

I can say that on the G I just got 1GB wouldn't cut it. It was sluggish with the Core Solo 1.33. With 2GB of RAM, it's just fine. I notice some slowness, but mainly under heavy I/O load and that is indicative of a single core/single processor. I would imagine the TZ would fare better, but if the TZ is anything like the G, you guys should like it.

Thanks so much for the news about 256 GB SSD, 2,5" big. Very promising development!

sturmnight wrote: "with a 2.5" SSD? Now that we saw a 256GB drive, we should see a 128GB 1.8" SSD soon. 64GB SSD in a TZ is enough for my standards"

So is the case with me. Anybody who can give a hint about when ("soon") Sony will launch a TZ with 64 GB SSD? I just cant wait.

In this thread they say it would cost around $1k.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=127083

But now the question is: Can i replace my future TZ with 32 GB SSD with a 64 GB or better with a 128 GB SSD without expecting another year so the refresh of TZ will have such options?

The 64GB consumer SSD drives are going to hit the market in the next few months, and it'll drop the price of the 32GB ones. I would assume that they'll be available in the popular flavors of interfaces and sizing, so you should be able to swap the 32GB with the 64GB SSD. I know I plan to ...

I decided, i will buy the TZ with SSD+DVD. Now i must decide from where...i live in Europe so take it from here is out of the question. Pricejapan.com has a very convenient price, but i'm still waiting their answer if they will charge taxes for shipping to Europe.

Yes, exetlaios, I read the good news, and I now suppose that it could be wise to wait a little for getting 64 GB SSD installed from Sony.

I don´t think I would manage to make such a switch myself. But I hope Sony will make TZ with 64 GB SSD as soon as possible - August - September - will that be possible?!

No, it does not. Sony customizes some of the features for each region.
