    Nice pics!

Good: that side power button is soo cool, the macbook like keyboard is pretty nice, really sweet looking and probably more sturdy than the TX, it looks like a real laptop, unlike the TX, integrated webcam
Bad: its bigger than the TX (marginally)

    Leet hax :p

I agree, the TZ looks amazing. It's gonna end up being real expensive, though. However ... dual core + 2 GB of RAM + possibly a GMA X3100 is gonna be a really great combo together. Too bad the hard drive will be a real bottleneck ... 1.8" drives with 4200 RPM kill load times. Whatever, ultraportables can be slow. They serve a purpose beyond performance :p

Ick ... ick. I was hoping for possibly an upgrade to the GMA X3100 after the original TZ thread was posted.

    Great work wuruoyu.

I do believe sony puts more emphasis on the battery life of its TX/TZ series ahead of performance. Thats the number one selling point and of course, its style. I think it all comes down to whats more important to you. And while it would've been nice to have the lastest platform and video, light weight and portability and its tiny size is the main selling point for me.

As far as pricing, there are sites like Engadget that stated the pricing will be similar to current comparable Tx models. And after configuring one on the Japanese site and converting it to $, it seems to support that theory. Around $2600 for one with 32GB SSD and Optical drive, 2GB RAM. You take out the SSD and the price should fall around $500+.

There are only two US models, apparently, and I haven't seen an SSD or 2.5" hard drive option for any of them.

The screen is still 11.1 inches, but it looks larger than the TX screen?

It looks larger because of the bult-in webcam that the TX didn't have. The borders are different for that reason.

I think all TXs were made in Japan, at least mine was, the SZs were made in China and Japan. Same should go for the TZs?

the TZ looks real nice, but the performance doesn't look too good, i m gonna hold off until the next SZ appears on the market...

I think SONY keeps all the high end items made in Japan, such as TX, SZ (at least my Premium is), their XBR LCD TV, High Def handycam, etc

tz is an ultra portable, its going to be faster than the tx. but not to be compared with the sz which has a core 2 duo, instead of an ulv core 2 duo.
with the tz you sacrifice a little performance for a super small and lightweight package with long battery life. different machines for different purposes. if you want to wait for the next sz, wait till the santa rosa one comes out if you can.

Even with Santa Rosa, it is not much improvements over my existig SZ460. I need something lighter, longer battery life without scarifice the performance. I know it sounds too good to be true, but I bet you in 2 years, when the newer technologies appeared, this will be the time for me to get the nex gen SZ.

    From Dynamism:

All the designs are made of carbon fiber; it's just whether or not the carbon fiber is "painted" or not.

    >and exactly what is lame?
OK,I mentioned about the Color. LAME means Glitter Lame & Powder Finish.
Carbon Finish currently used in TZ differs from what was used in SZ-Premium. (I was very impressed with the SZ's Carbon Finish) As we know the Carbon Finish is just Clear Finish with colored powder. In TZ ,since there is too much quantity of powder, it will look cheap.

There is the option of the premium carbon like the SZ (and old X505) for the TZ. The colors are just yet another option./

I don't like the buttons in front. I wish they were on top. I have a problem with my tx with mute switch.
I handle the laptop a lot on the plane or in a car. Lappy slides down on my laps and my belt or cell phone hits mute or volume switch.
