    Hi all,

This is the problem, when I disconnect my notebook charger, the HDD start developing some kind of buzzing/whining sound when its idle. When I do something like open a folder, perform a virus scan, its goes quiet. But when the HDD is idle again the buzzing sound starts and just continues.

This has become annoying and I'm not sure what the root cause is.

I have just uninstalled windows 7 (due to driver issues) and re-inistalled windows XP. Now when i was using windows 7, this problem did not occur.

I suspect it is to do with some kind of software configuration and battery profiles, as this only happens when I disconnect the charger in Win XP.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks.
