Chances are the drive has been damaged.

You can also check if there is a firmware update for the drive, but I'm betting the drive has gone bad. :( Burning uses a different laser if I remember correctly.

My advice, switch to thumbsticks and/or a usb dvd-burner.

Search Google for "DVD-RAM UJ-852S firmware update" you will find it.
The first hit i got was a Sony website saying it improves burning reliability.

Cleaning may help, or may not.

Cleaning the laser should normally be avoided, as it can scratch or bump it out of alignment. Canned air from a safe distance is the only cleaning method I can recommend.
That said, make sure you don't have a speck of dust stuck near or on the spindle itself. A tiny bump near the center will translate to a rather large displacement near the rim, and can lead to vibration as you experience, as well as problems reading or writing. So try to gently clean the spindle, making sure you don't touch the lasers, and don't leave any residue.

The spindle I think is the little 'black' thing that clicks your disc into place.

My Z had a similar issue to you a few months back. But mine was the case of that circular black thing coming loose off the motor drive shaft, which caused vibrations (and sometimes wouldn't spin the disc with the lack of friction).

Curious, but is your circular black thing on the drive tray actually fully attached to the motor? I got mine replaced under warranty so all was good. Unsure about the SZ considering it is a few years old now.

Actually, depending on your machine's specs you could invest and replace with a blu-ray drive if you ain't under warranty.
