    Guys,
Im having a serious problem here. My 2 month old vaio vpc z13s9r/b keeps crashing at least once a day. Basically what happens is : while im working in word, excel or browsing through google chrome, sending an email etc. fan starts to work stronger, and eventually my display turns off, + green light switches from speed to stamina (if im in a stamina mode , display still shuts down) at that time no matter what i press, computer doesnt respond, so i have to do a hard reset. I already tried reinstalling driver (original and custom made found in another thread) , restarted bios( take off the battery, press on for 30 secs and get default values in bios setup) , i even reinstalled my windows 7 pro , but problem still exists. Its driving me nuts since I loose lots of work and time during those crashes when word doesnt save automatically. I called Sony in Russia, they told me there is no need to bring it to service centre since they will only reinstall windows. Im really lost here, i have no idea what to do , 2000+ $ laptop doesnt let me do basic work such as word, emails etc.

Oh btw, when im watching a movie or playing a game this problem never happens, i even tried some intensive 7-8 hour gaming sessions , but i still didnt have that problem.

hmm haven't heard of that crash before... Hmm in the start menu type "reliability history" and view the reliability history. Then see what windows says about those crashes. Does the laptop make a buzzing noise, etc when it freezes?

a fan error possibly? My old Fujitsu laptop used to display error messages on the BIOS when it detects that its fan is not fully operational, and if I ignore the warning and continue to use the laptop, it'll crash with a BSOD within an hour. I do not know if the insyde BIOS in the VAIO Z will warn you for such error though.
