    Hi!

I was all set to get the VPC-Z1290 with i7, 6gb ram, 256hdd (2x128), 1600x900 screen. Then I looked over at the VPC-Z1190 which I don't like because it's only silver and i5, but it says "13.1" widescreen with XBRITE-DuraView™ LCD technology (1600x900) featuring NVIDIA® GeForce® Graphics with 1GB VRAM". Does that mean it's somehow different/better than the VPC-Z1290 screen? Or is that just hype?

    Help!

Don't fret. They are the same. Get your Z12 configuration if you like it.

Thanx! :) 2x128gig SSD in RAID0 sounds nicer than 1x256gig! Plus the i7, it's a clear win for me. Other than the fact that I just realized the Z11 qualifies for 400 off the price. Talk about making things hard for me!

Isn't the raid config the same for both, so the only real difference will be the cpu and ram?

On the Canadian website it claims that the Z11 256gb is just one HDD while the Z12 is 2x128gb in RAID0. Not the same speed wise.

The RAM options are the same, they just cost more on the Z11 for some reason. Z11 only offers the i5 right now. At least this is the case in Canada. Making no claims for what the US website offers.

If the highest maximum CPU performance is *that* important to you...

Since I'm not buying for another 3 weeks, it's all academic. If the deal with 400 off is still around, it might be worth just going for the i5 and spend less than 2k. If I'm ignoring the 400 dollar sale, what's an extra 100 bux to get i7 when I'm spending 2400 already, right? And it gets me the colour I want rather than silver. So I don't see why I'd get the Z11 if it weren't for the sale. (which may not be around in 3 weeks)

It's all about the colour in the end, LMAO.

    Ahmmm... cause everyone hates us?

More likely it's because we're so nice and just take it :p

Seriously though, even books are a rip-off. If you do a straight exchange on the US price of a book in Chapters and then look at the price in CAD... shocking! Total rip-off.

At least the Sony Z comes in similar options, the Sony EA for example has an optional graphics card in US and no such thing in Canada. Forget price, I can live with that, it's the availability and the choice of setups that drives me nuts.

The Z11 256GB should be in RAID 0 as well. I would be absolutely shocked if not, and I highly doubt that it isn't a RAID 0 set up. The single 256GB chip consists of two "logical" 128GB drives set up in a dual RAID 0 configuration.
