I bought this laptop off ebay busted. The reason why is because I love the design of this laptop so much, and it has a 5650 in it. It's the iridescent blue one. A VPCEB36FG. It's a gorgeous laptop, and I don't get how people could hate the color of it.

I plug it in, turn it on and it does not post. BlackSOD. Instead the caps lock light blinks constantly and never stops. Is this a GPU failure? It seems very akin to an HP laptop.

You could try this. worked for me once.

    turn off laptop
    unplug AC adapter
    remove battery
hold power button in for 30 seconds, then release.
    put battery back in,
    plug AC adapter back in
    turn on laptop.

In my experience busted laptops are sold on ebay because they are too difficult or too expensive to repair (or both). People buy them for parts - e.g. if your laptop died and you bought another busted laptop of the same model which died in a different manner (e.g. broken screen), chances are that you can combine parts from both to get one working unit.

Try asking the seller what he knows about the laptop - how it got busted, what has been tried so far, etc.

Try reseating the ram sticks, switching ram sticks (if you have more than one), or removing one or another (if you have more than one). I've noticed in many laptops from different brands, if ONLY the capslock is blinking, its a ram issue.
