I have an earlier generation Z (Z11), but the once or twice that has happened to me, it was due to nVidia crashing to hard and fast for Windows 7 to recover it. Unless you have the system notifications turned off, you should get a notification bubble explaining that Windows recovered from a video driver error after the system restarts. Unfortunately, this isn't all that uncommon for nVidia drivers. :(

On the plus side, I've had my Z for a year now and that has only happened twice. To completely prevent it, you could just run in Stamina mode all the time. ;)

The Event Viewer will probably shed some light.
