Have had my Sony Z for about 3 years now...still love it, but thinking about upgrading/updating the unit so I can use it for another few years.

One issue that I have not been able to find out about is updating the video driver. Tried the Sony website but nothing new came out since I purchased the laptop in 2009. Thought it was kind of weird no new updates were availale. At any rate, its keeping me from playing a simple game like Civ5.

Has anyone successfully updated their NVidia GeForce 9300M GS driver using the NVidia website? Or has Sony released an update for this video card? The one I have is from 8/22/2009, 8.15.11.8684.

Also thinking of upgrading the HDD to a solid state hdd...its past my warranty so I'm willing to tinker with the hardware now. Should I update my firmware so that it can work with my 47G/D? I'm guessing my laptop is compatible with a solid state hdd because Sony offered a ss-hdd version at the same time I purchased my laptop.

    Thanks!
