A couple of weeks ago, I posted a message about my 16 month old Vaio Z 750D that refused to boot or resume from hibernate mode. The issue seems to be somewhat sporadic, but is getting progressively worse with each week.
The unit is no longer covered by Sony's warranty, but is covered by American Express' extended warranty program, since I purchased with my Amex. I opened a case with them and just sent the unit to their repair center in Utah.
From discussions with Sony tech support, it appears that the issue is likely motherboard related. If that's the case, then what are the odds that Amex's repair facility will actually be able to procure a motherboard? Recent postings here suggest that Sony either no longer stocks the parts or has no interest in trying to repair the older VAIO Z laptops...

If they can't fix it... well they should just pay you up front right?
That's right. If they can't source the part to affect the fix, then they'll refund the money I paid for the laptop. The question is whether or not motherboards are still available for that line of VAIO Zs. -
