Hey guys, I am trying to see if this is normal in my Vaio Z.
Apparently, our keyboard is structured in a way where we only hold down 2 keys, most of the time. For instance, when I have "W" and "D" key held down, pressing q, e, z, x, a will not be recognized.
I was wondering if this is true for our keyboards or do I just have a bad one? Can someone test this out with their Z?
Pretty much open notepad, hold down "W" and "D" and try and press all the other keyboard buttons and see if they are recognized.
Thanks

This problem is called keyboard rollover, and isn't unique to Sony -- it's common for all cheap keyboards who read their keys in a matrix.
While it prevents multiple keys in the same rows and columns from being read simultaneously, it generally doesn't affect keys on different rows and columns. So you may be able to press Q+W+D+F+B+N all at the same time, while Q+W+E or Q+A+Z fails.
However, it's not always that simple either -- the "columns" and "rows" do not always match the physical columns and rows. Many gaming keyboards, for example, have WASD on separate logical rows/columns to allow the user to hit more keys while any or all of these keys are pressed.
The Z is not a gaming keyboard, and doesn't have this arrangement. -
Ok, just making sure that it wasn't a defect on my unit!
