Hi all, I could use some help from others with VPCZ12/11 notebooks. Recently my unit boot up into the generic Windows 7 SVGA drivers. Device Manager shows the Intel(R) HD Graphics as not functioning. I tried reinstalling the original Sony hybrid drivers and they failed to resolve the issue (same with the latest beta found on this forum.). The only way I could make the video card work was to install just the Intel HD driver direct from Intel. With this installed, i get full native res, however the speed switch setting doesn't work for obvious reasons. I suspect my NVIDIA chip is somehow not working or broken. My question is...under device manager, should I be seeing two display adapters (one for Intel one for NVIDIA)? Currently, I only see one and I am thinking that the Sony driver fails to install because of this. Any help would be appreciated.

Depends what the switch is set to. Try a system restore and if that doesn't work it's time to contact Sony service.

I tried a restore and it locks up during the part of the install where Windows states it's setting up the computer for first use.

Sounds like time to call service.
