I was wondering which one should I go for.

    VAIO Z128:
    Dual Core i7 (4MB cache)
    8GB RAM
    64 GB x 4 SSD in Raid 0
    1920 x 1080 Display
    Price: S$ 4,499.00

    VAIO Z126:
    Core i5 (3MB cache)
    6GB RAM
    64 GB x 2 SSD in Raid 0
    1600 x 900 Display
    Price: S$ 3,299.00

So the difference is S$ 1200.

Is the Quad-SSD *noticeably* faster than the Dual-SSD in daily casual computing? (windows booting, web browsing etc. No gaming or video editing). I understand "benchmarks" will show a huge difference. But will I actually notice much difference in what we call "daily computing"?

And for the display, I don't care about watching Full HD movies on the notebook, but available work area concerns me. Will I be able to work on two pages side-by-side on 1600 x 900 display?

Both Intel® Core™ i5-540M and Intel® Core™ i7-620M processors come with two cores/4 threads. Does the bit higher clock speed and little more cache make a big difference?

I believe 6MB should be enough for the usual "daily computing"?

    6mb of ...

1600x900 is enough for 2 pages but if your page is best suited for 1024x1024
means it is not enough... if it is 800x600 means it is enough...

    i7 and i5...
the only differences is the cache size, clock speeds
i can't tell from daily usages but i can tell from application that really need it...

and for the ssd, the speed of dual raid 64Gb is more than enough but not for the size which is... 128Gb, i used more than 3/4 of 256Gb, so this part is depend on usages...

    Thanks for your reply.

    6GB of RAM I meant.

Z128 comes with 8GB RAM and Z126 comes with 6GB RAM.

i never use more than 3gb of ram even tough i opened a lot off applications...

but 1 thing that you must remember for vaio z, if you set the processor to work at 0% in stamina mode which is 1170 Mhz(130mhz bus with 9 multiplier) for i7 620 you can feel a bit of lag, i mean the performance will exactly look like core duo 2.0 ghz.
